With keynote speakers Dr Nayantara Appleton, from the Centre for Science in Society, Victoria University Wellington challenging us “Do not ‘decolonize’ if you are not decolonizing”; and Dr Tara McAllister (University of Auckland) and Dr Sereana Naepi (Thompson Rivers University) asking ‘Why isn’t my professor Māori? Why isn’t my professor Pasifika?’
Leading the kōrero, attendees will also workshop bullying in academia and building resilient, kind, creative research teams with Associate Professor Craig Stevens and Associate Professor Siouxsie Wiles, with further sessions to be confirmed.
Held on Tuesday 22 October, at the Fale Pasifika, University of Auckland, from 9.30 am to 6 pm, this year’s symposium seeks to be inclusive and accessible, focused on changing the culture of science – reflecting on what works well and what needs to be changed. We encourage all people interested in changing the culture of science to participate and attend.
