My research investigates the photophysical and optoelectronic properties of solution processable organic semiconductors, including conjugated polymers. This work is motivated by applications such as solar energy conversion and biosensing technologies., Time-resolved laser spectroscopy, from femtosecond timescales and beyond, is highlighted as a means to probe the optical and electronic functionality of nanostructured organic semiconductors. Other current research directions include biotemplated assembly of organic semiconductors and investigating coupling between electronic and ionic charge carriers in conjugated polyelectrolytes., I am a principal investigator in the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology, where I contribute to the molecular materials theme. My research also involves collaborations with several other research groups at Victoria University, around New Zealand and in Cambridge, U.K.
